BARNHAM SHEPHERDS HUTS

Luxury Shepherds Huts
Barnham Court Farm West Sussex

 Vintage Style with Contemporary Comfort

Slow Living in Open Country

Book one of our luxury shepherds huts for a secluded getaway close to nature in open countryside. Exceptionally comfortable huts look across open farmland under wide skies on the Sussex coastal plain between the South Downs and the Sea. This really is your ideal glamping holiday.

Visit with friends and take more than one hut. Our huts are far enough apart to be completely separate but they are not too far apart to stroll over and join up with your friends if you prefer..

In Summer, picnic outdoors and settle around the fire-pit in front of your hut as dusk falls. In winter stoke up the wood-burning stove to get cosy inside your hut, sheltered from icy winds and biting frosts.

 Hut No 1 Southdown

luxury shepherds huts chichester
Hut No 1 Southdown sits in its own secluded patch beyond Dairy Cottage.  We built this hut on the rescued skeleton of an old hay trailer. Lined with beaded timber boards, it has a solid ash wood floor. The tiny bathroom at one end of the hut has a deep old fashioned tub for a really good soak. The hut has a solid slate kitchen worktop with Belfast sink and gas hob. Under the slate is a fridge and cupboards with a good range of cooking equipment. The king sized bed has a deep pocket sprung mattress for a very comfortable night's sleep. In Summer you can throw open the top of the stable door to let in the sun or the evening air. But in Winter the thickly insulated walls will shut out the iciest winds and the wood-burning stove will keep you warm and cosy on the bitterest winter night.

 Hut No 2 Herdwick

holidays cottages near the sea to get away from London
Hut No 2 Herdwick sits in its own fenced off  compound behind the farmyard looking out over grass paddocks and open country beyond. It is alongside the same paddock as the other hut Shearling but far enough away from it to be completely private if you wish. It is also ideal if you wish to visit with friends and stay in both huts. The hut is built on traditional cast iron wheels with a solid ash wood floor. A tiny bathroom at one end of the hut has a deep bath tub for a really good soak. The kitchen area has a slate worktop with a Belfast sink and gas hob. Underneath is a full sized fridge and cupboards with a good collection of cooking equipment.

 Hut No 4 Longwool

Longwool is rather special. It is more remote than the other huts and sits on its own in a secluded spot on the edge of its own private woodland. This hut is ideal for those who really want to get away from it all and it has no WiFi.

Hut No 4 Longwool sits on its own at the edge of the Marl Wood. Built on a sturdy frame with  cast iron wheels, it has a solid ash wood floor. The little bathroom at one end of the hut has a tiny deep bath ideal for a luxurious soak. The kitchen has an ash wood worktop with a Belfast sink and double gas hob. Underneath is a fridge and cupboards with a good collection of cooking equipment. The king sized bed has a deep pocket sprung mattress for a very comfortable night's sleep. In Summer throw open the top of the stable door to let in the sun or the evening air. Use the iron fire-pit to cook a barbecue on the grid or just to sit around and watch the flickering flames. But in Winter the thickly insulated walls will shut out the iciest winds and the wood-burning stove will keep you warm and cosy on the bitterest winter night.

A GREAT PLACE TO STAY HIDDEN AWAY AMONG HEDGEROWS AND WOODLAND

WITH VIEWS OF OPEN COUNTRY

AN IDEAL PLACE TO JUST WATCH NATURE

More About Our Shepherds Huts

We can move all of our huts about on their wheels and have sited each hut very carefully in its own private compound with views across open countryside. Each hut also has its own place to park very nearby. Outside each hut you will find a fire-bowl as well as a table and chairs for eating outdoors. You will even find old fashioned deck chairs with classic canvas slings for a really relaxing doze.

Southdown sits in its own secluded corner behind the farm cottages. Herdwick and Shearling sit alongside the same grass paddock but each has its own mini-paddock fenced off with hazel wattle where you can be completely private if you wish. Longwool is more remote sitting in its own woodland and is ideal for those who really want to get away from it all.

An easy journey from London and across the South of England, but very far from the madding hustle and bustle of urban living, time in your luxury shepherds hut is that extra bit special.  A unique experience that takes “glamping” to a whole new level, your hut immerses you in the English countryside in a way you don’t quite get in a holiday cottage.  Located in the heart of working farmland in West Sussex, near the South Downs and only a short drive from the sea and some of the finest beaches in Sussex, the sights, sounds and atmosphere leave you in no doubt that you have found a very special rural retreat. You have the comforts of a luxury holiday cottage, the closeness to nature of glamping, and the peace of a wild natural escape.
